Cloud Antivirus #1 in PC World Comparative
I was recently pointed to a comparative study of free antivirus solutions done by PC World and performed by AV-Test.org, comparing Panda Cloud Antivirus, Avira, avast!, Microsoft Security Essentials, AVG, Comodo, PC Tools, and ClamAV.
Altough the editorial did not include Panda Cloud Antivirus in the ranking chart as it could not test the retrospective detection using 2 and 4 week old signatures (as Panda Cloud Antivirus works in the cloud and therefore cannot use 2 & 4 week old signatures), it had this to say about Panda Cloud Antivirus:
http://www.pcworld.com/reviews/product/290839/review/cloud_antivirus.html
Among all of the free antivirus software we tested for our latest roundup, Panda Cloud Antivirus was the best app at blocking known malware.
The approach is intended to take advantage of the latest signatures without the need for signature-database updates–and if its excellent showing at detecting malware in AV-Test.org’s zoo of half a million samples is any indication, the approach works. Panda’s app produced an impressive 99.4 percent overall detection rate.
For now, we can’t give Panda’s app a complete score, but its impressive ability to detect malware makes it well worth keeping an eye on.
The final detection rate ranking of the full collection of malware, taking into consideration updated sigs and products, is the following:
- Panda: 99.4%
- Avira: 98.9%
- Avast: 98.2%
- MSE: 97.8%
- AVG: 95.8%
- Comodo: 74.6%
This is great news and motivates us even more to continue working hard to release a 1.0 version that offers top detection and protection for free

Could Panda create a GPO file to control the background scan system and other stuff, it could very usefull if some companies wants to use this solution hehehe.
Thanks in advance, keep the good work! i’m loving this App.
Is it better than Kaspersky Interent Security & Bitdefender Total Security? Any of you guys have tried this one?
@Tips & Tricks
Bitdefender is at 98.9% according to PC world, Kapersky was 95.6. So yes, Cloud AV did better than those. In fact, it seems to have done better than any antivirus currently on the market, paid or free.
“Expect the Beta3 to be released around September.”
It will be October soon…
@jsn Yes we are running a little behind on some functionalities. Expect the Beta3 to be released around October now
Installed Panda Cloud today. Vista Home Basic 32 bit system. Tho’ts -
1 . Does Panda have a firewall?
2. Do I need any other security features?
3. I have Telus , my ISP, security (not that good, per Techs) now – should I now uninstall it or is Panda compatible with it(without confict)??
4. Or if Panda has no FIREWALL – disable all Telus except FIREWALL?
5.. any other considerations??
Nope, not yet.
Depends on your needs. I run it with Windows Firewall and it’s sufficient. However you might want to mix it with a backup, spam protection, sandbox, etc.
I don’t know Telus, but if it’s an antivirus then yes, you’ll have to unisntall it first before installing Panda Cloud AV.
No that won’t be enough as the antivirus drivers will still be installed and loaded.

Cloudantivirus seems to have disappeared. What’s happening? Is the Beta phase closed if so some notice would have been useful, or should I hang on a bit longer before going off to find other AV software?
@Alex Molina
It works for me.
We had a planned outage to upgrade the firewalls and other backend components. Getting ready for the Beta3 release which also includes a new website
Good news )
will beta3 detect and remove rootkits
when is the beta3 release
Hi,
I’ve got couple of questions for you:
1) Is there any place where we can upload malware samples (or files we find suspicious) ?
2) Panda CAV flagged as suspicious two files in my PC almost two weeks ago. Those files suppose to be analyzed, but id doesn’t look like anything is happening two them. I’m curious what could be happening, since both of them are legit game exes (belonging to experience112 aka The Experiment and Warsow).
3) Thinking of it: maybe it would be a good idea to provide a way to submit false positives by suers ? Either form website or from advanced menu (or even separate exe) ?
4) Cloud Antivirus looks very promising! Keep up the good work!
Hi, filehippo.com has a Beta4 release of Panda Cloud on 9Oct09, yet neither the official download site nor this blog has any news about it. Why? Is the one provided in filehippo.com legit?
For reference: http://www.filehippo.com/download_cloud_antivirus/
@Barthez Please use the following mailboxes for submitting information:
virus@pandasecurity.com < - for undetected samples infecting your PC
virussamples@pandasecurity.com < - for undetected sample collections
falsepositives@pandasecurity.com < - for false positive detections
Please submit the two samples you are having problems with manually to the falsepositives@pandasecurity.com mailbox.
@Wooffi The version Filehippo is showing in this page is 0.08.83, which corresponds to Beta2, not Beta4. They probably made a typo or error when publishing this page.
jwgkvsq.vmx is a virus and this antivirus cant recognize and neutralize it.
@sina Please send the file in a password-protected ZIP/RAR file to virus@pandasecurity.com. Alternatively you can post here the MD5 of the file as well.
I like this antivirus. More like what I had in mind but has some limitations to my needs. I wonder how I could contribute?
Why Panda Cloud doesn’t neutralize some files? While Panda Antivirus Pro recognizes and neutralizes those files.
after install panda cloud anti-virus , the windows 7 action center show that the panda cloud is turn off. How do i want to solve this problem?
@Pedro Bustamante
(jwgkvsq.vmx)
unfortunately i delete that virus and i dont have it anymore. but in the below link, there is a lot of information about that virus. i remove that virus with the help of this web site.
http://www.techiebubble.com/security/how-to-remove-the-jwgkvsqvmx-worm-virus/
I run Panda Cloud Antivirus (it’s amazing
on Windows 7 Professional. Windows Security Center shows that it’s active, but reports its state in an old format, which is no longer supported. I’m surprised because I’ve expected Beta 3 will fully support Windows 7.
Feel free to correct my English and please reply
@Anthony Can you send me details about these files you mention to pedro.bustamante@pandasecurity.com.
@Lim & @guest this is a known issue which we’ve fixed already. Please check back here in a couple of days and download the final version of Beta3.
I have noticed that my hard disk is making noise when idle. Panda Cloud Antivirus is doing something in the background all the time and I don’t like it. It is annoying. It is sitting in my system tray disabled almost all the time because of the noise it is making. Other than that it could be the best antivirus I ever had! Please make it stop raping my hard disk whenever it wants.
@Smoker Please check back late tomorrow to download Beta3. All the issues with the BackgroundScan have been fixed in Beta3
@Pedro Bustamante
Thanks! I can’t wait
Thanks for a verg good programme. It found a trojan which every other programme I had missed.Panda does not slow the speed either.A very good product indeed.
Does Panda Cloud Antivirus beta 3 have a web shield/ website scanner?
@Bob Not yet Bob. We are focusing now on getting a really good file scanner AV finished and then we will add more bells and whistles to it.
today the panda cloud beta is free when no longer beta will be paid?
@mike It will continue to be free after beta.
often not cloud the panda starts when the computer is turned on and need to reboot the pc, that even with Internet administrative operation normally.
Wow! Congrats! I will recommend Panda Cloud Antivirus to my friends! Thanks for making it a free antivirus!
@mike please post your problem at the tech support forums at http://www.cloudantivirus.com/forum
how does it get updated, is it manual or automatic?
@prasa If you mean signature updates, it does not need to update. This is the first AV without an update button. If you mean upgrades (new engine versions) for now this is manual. After version 1.1 we will have automatic upgrades. Please vote for your most-wanted feature of Panda Cloud Antivirus next versions here:

To the Developers of Cloud Antivirus:
Is this antivirus is also available for the Mac and Linux… like AVG and others? If not please consider the request of Linux and Mac users like us.. coz not everyone is at Windows.
i downloaded some sample and used panda cloud AV to scan them ,but nothing happened, can pedro tell me why?MSE warn there are 9 malicious problems in my computer. i really hope that panda can improve the REAL TIME SCAN MONITOR
You can use cloud with threat fire from pc tools. Threat fire is light as well on sys resources. together you cannot get better protection
itsverygood

@ron Yes you can use Cloud Antivirus with other third-party tools such as behavioural analysis, firewalls, etc. Just don’t use it alongside any other AV.
just got a hand on cloud antivirus. it managed to detect most of the infections “avast! home” failed to see. i’ve been having trouble with malwares, rootkits & spywares. so far, CAV has managed to remove almost all of these troublesome infections. i’m doing a thorough scan right now after finishing a quick scan & its still finding infections. i hope that CAV continue its amazing ability in riding us of these pest. keep up the good work. this has been a far better deal than most free AV out there.
by the way, what do you do if it finds infections it cannot neutralize??? i’ve gotten several already. thanks.
@Jacky Chan 1998 These could be either rootkits of files within an archive compressed file. In the first case Panda Cloud Antivirus needs a reboot to get rid of the rootkit. In the second case, you can either uncompress the file or simply delete it altogether
