Panda Cloud Antivirus 1.0.1

March 1st, 2010

Today we are releasing a new version of Panda Cloud Antivirus, version 1.0.1. This version is basically a cumulative-fix release which incorporates Hotfix-1, Hotfix-2 and some small additional improvements.

The most notable improvement is that we have gotten rid of the initial account registration which used to be mandatory for first-time installs. Panda Cloud Antivirus will not ask for account during install anymore. Only if you want to participate in the Cloud Antivirus Support Forums will you need to create an account.

I have Cloud Antivirus 1.0 already installed. Do I need to download & install this version?
Not really. This new version incorporates hotfixes which you probably already have installed anyway. To check if you have them installed, simply browse to “C:\Documents and Settings\All Users” (XP) and you should see a subdirectory called “HF_PCA_somenumber”.

I have the hotfixes installed but I still have some problems with Panda Cloud Antivirus. Should I install this version?
Yes you might want to give it a try. Below you can find some more detail of what this version fixes which is not included in the existing hotfixes. In order to install this version on top of the one you already have, first uninstall your current version, then reboot and finally download & install the new version from http://acs.pandasoftware.com/cloud/CloudAntivirus.exe.

What’s the changelog of this version 1.0.1?

  1. Preactivated version does not require account creation during install
  2. Fix for certain conditions of stuck quick & full scan
  3. Improved cloud-heuristic detection for unknown malware – From HF_2
  4. Improved prevalence algorithms for priorization of new malware – From HF_2
  5. Fix of problems scanning certain files in system directories – From HF_1
  6. Fix for loss of connectivity after malware disinfection involving LSP – From HF_1
  7. Improved cloud-heuristic detection – From HF_1

Happy Birthday! I suggest it would be better if there is Traditional Chinese version available as well for this software since Simplified Chinese version may not be applicable to most of the Asian Countries.

    @monica
hi Monica, no your not if you can download malwarebytes @ http://www.malwarebytes.org and run a full scan. If you can not you will have to go to a known clean computer and download it to a disc or usb and run it on your computer from there. You can also try a rescue cd from panda and boot with that.

It’s a good thing to have such a anti-virus on my machine.
It detects most of the threats. I am really happy about it.
I am sure, this will be a big hit. I have told about this anti virus to all of my friends & colleagues. Anyhow, woodwork, keep it up.
Hope this will be a real evolution of anti virus software!!!

I have read a lot of comments about this software running along side other AV software and am trying to find out if it will work with McAfee, which has quite some time before it’s renewal is due although i am considering removing it due to the piece of crap resource thief that it is, mainly when it updates and scans, I have done so many reboots on this system because of viruses getting in and trojans destroying it to the point of nothing working and McAfee has just sat there and done sweet F.A apart from flag some good software, which i have been using for a few years now with no issues, as a trojan, it seems that all i have paid for is a shredder, Tech Support is a waste of time and i wish i was taller, my idea is to disable M’s Real Time Scan as i have with the scheduled scans and have this AV software backing up McAfee and doing that side of things in the hope that will resolve the problem, this will still leave one issue though, how are these viruses getting in when i have got the firewall set to top level stealth mode also if i do try and remove McAfee how can i be sure there are no traces left behind…

Using “Free Download Manager,” it is claimed that three people have reported this software as malicious.

When I clicked to read those remarks, I found none.

I wanted to mention it so that you could follow up with them and perhaps with me.

    Thanks

I have tried sevearal times 2 download Panda Cloud but am unsuccessful each time, I have removed all other anti-virus programs from my PC so why won’t Panda Cloud download for me, I had it on an older PC I had but cannot get it to download on2 my new PC ??

  24. May 7th, 2010 at 19:41 | #24

@Jaka Yan Suryana there’s no need to update manually. Panda Cloud Antivirus is always up-to-date as it connects in real-time to our cloud-scanning servers.

@David F. Pottert Where are you downloading from? Is the problem in the “download” or with “installing”?

I love this program to protect against viruses. No need to do a lot of settings. A good interface and all is clear.
I am interested in one question. If I temporarily disconnected from the internet then my computer will be unprotected? I will be able to infect your system from a connected USB drive at this time?

  26. May 11th, 2010 at 16:10 | #26

I like this antivirus. I’ve been using it for about 2 months now without any problems. I’ve used AVG Free before and hated it. Although I can’t say this works 100% as well as the paid software I used to use (Trend Micro PC-cillin) it doesn’t use nearly the resources or memory that the other program used and I’m quite happy with it for the moment. I will admit I am careful where I go online and what I click and I’ve never had much to worry about then or now. I tried the Microsoft security and it worked but it was just about as resource heavy as the Trend Micro.

Is it true that I can use Panda cloud AV as well as other installed AV software and be doubly protected or will this slow my puter down considerably. I’m using Avira at the moment.

I am running a five year old IBM desktop. 2.8GHz with 1 GB of RAM. My internet provider (Comcast) gives us security protection for “free”. I had McAfee and it would slow my PC a bit during updates. They switched us to Norton and it killed my PC; slow and freezing if I clicked too fast. Can anyone recommend a good security package or combination of products that will protect me without turning my PC into molasses? Right now I am running without an antivirus and my PC is flying!

question. my wife gets her company email via company MS exchange server and they are running a competing cloud AV program. Recently her email company was hijacked and she is now getting upwards of 100 spam emails a day. When she contacted her IT department they advised her that they do NOT have a solution. Can she install Panda on her laptop to run in conjunction with the other AV program and will it help stop the email spam from the server?
